To start off this blog, I'll be sharing my current favorite foundation! This is the L'Oreal True Match LUMI Foundation, which I decided to purchase after StyleSuzi mentioned it in a favorites video. I think I got it around the end of August/beginning of September, right when school started, and I used it throughout the entire semester until December.

This is a great medium to full coverage foundation that blends well and looks natural. As the label says, it's a "luminous" foundation with a dewy finish. It is odorless and comes with a pump which is AWESOME.  It also contains sunscreen and has an SPF of 20. This was a major plus for me since the moisturizer I used to use did not contain SPF.

Application: After applying moisturizer and primer, I use a damp beautyblender sponge to apply the foundation. Sometimes I use an undereye brightener/concealer but I don't use concealer for any spots because the foundation's coverage is so good. Sometimes I'll dab a little extra foundation on the spot if it's particularly noticeable. I'll use a makeup setting spray if I think I'll be sweating a lot but I think the foundation would last even without primer or setting spray. Because it is a slightly wetter foundation it does take some time to set but after it does, it stays on all day! I think this is a foundation that will work on all skin types. I have combination skin (acne-prone, with oily and dry spots) and this does the job for me. The foundation does not look cakey or accentuate my dry spots. Those with oily skin may want to use a powder to avoid looking overly shiny.

One of the downsides to this foundation is the color selection. While they do have it conveniently divided into cool, neutral and warm, I still could not find an exact match for my skin despite it being called "True Match." Due to my yellow-toned skin, I figured I'd be warm, so the first bottle I picked up was W4 Natural Beige, and it was a fairly good match for me for the summer. However, I figured it would soon be too dark for me, so after a few weeks of using it, I went to buy a lighter shade. I tried the lightest one, W1-2 (I don't know why they combined 1 and 2) but it was way too pale. Target was out of W3 so I ordered it online assuming it would be a good match if 1-2 was too light and 4 too dark. W3 is the one I stuck with and used throughout most of the semester but it still isn't a good match, especially now that we're right in the middle of winter. It's a bit dark especially when I build it up and apply more than one layer, but it's not too noticeable once it's blended out. I've ordered N1-2 which I will mix with W3 to lighten it up so hopefully then it'll be a good match.

Luckily my skin's cleared up significantly over the past several weeks, and I've also been spending most of my time at home so I haven't been using this foundation as often. I'll talk about some lighter foundations & CC creams in my future posts!

Unfortunately I don't remember where exactly I got this foundation from since it was a while ago but I think it was drugstore.com where it retails for $12.95.
